Donghua University presented textile-related research at the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai, according to its 12 October report. The university's exhibit included conductive nanocellulose films made using material extracted from waste cotton.
A route beyond conventional fabric recycling
The university identifies antistatic textiles and electromagnetic shielding as potential applications for the flexible composite films. Its report does not give production volumes, sales or an independent assessment of the recovery process.
A separate exhibit concerned green and intelligent manufacturing across the polyester-fibre chain, developed with industrial partners including Tongkun. The university also presented functional microcapsule research.
Keep the projects distinct
These are separate developments within one exhibition programme. Performance or commercial claims about the broader polyester platform should not be attributed to the waste-cotton film.
The report offers a useful research snapshot, while industrial readiness and application-specific evidence remain matters for follow-up.
